You don’t have to be a professional photographer to take fabulous Chihuahua pictures of your pet. You can use a 35-mm. SLR camera to photograph your Chihuahua, but a digital camera works just as well and gives you the option of deleting your bad shots before you pay to have them processed and printed.
When taking digital Chihuahua pictures, start each photo session with a fresh memory card and fresh batteries so you don’t have to stop in the middle of your picture taking to swap memory cards or change batteries. Taking Chihuahua pictures is challenging enough without having to fiddle with your equipment during picture-taking.
Once your camera is ready, loaded with fresh batteries and a fresh memory card, choose the setting for your Chihuahua pictures. If you have a fenced garden or other area where you can safely photograph your Chihuahua outdoors, then you can take pictures in daylight without using a flash. This will result in brighter, more natural looking pictures.
After your camera is all ready, set the stage for your photos. It’s a good idea to have several backdrops available, as different patterns and textures will produce different results. Generally speaking, light subjects should be photographed against dark backgrounds, and dark subjects should be photographed against light backgrounds, so choose your background based on the color of your pet’s coat. Whether the background is light or dark, it should be neutral and free of any distracting clutter.
If you must take your Chihuahua pictures indoors, take them in the brightest room available and see if you can do without the flash, to get more natural colors. Placing mirrors opposite from windows and doors will amplify the light and brighten the room even further.
Now that your camera and background are ready, all you need is your Chihuahua. If you are taking your Chihuahua pictures outside, grab your camera and be ready to shoot. Your dog will interact naturally and playfully with the outdoor surroundings while you capture that perfect shot-the one with the neutral background and colorful foreground.
The task of shooting your Chihuahua pictures will be much easier if you can get a friend or family member to help you. Your dog may try to get away from your photography “studio,” and an extra pair of hands will be extremely useful in holding the dog still, arranging the backdrops, and setting up the props. If your Chihuahua is particularly active, it might be a good idea to wait until the dog is tired to start taking pictures, so you have time to get a few shots in between all the movement. Take as many Chihuahua pictures as your dog will tolerate.
