Understanding About Yorkshire Terrier Grooming

by Susan Bailey

If you are contemplating getting a dog, you really want to put some serious thought into which breed you should go with. There are many to choose from, but depending on a few factors you may want to go with certain breeds. If you are particularly busy for instance then you may not want to go with a Yorkie, because Yorkshire Terrier grooming will take up a lot of time.

Yorkshire Terrier grooming in particular takes a fair bit of time and effort, and so if you are an extremely busy person then you may want to go with a different breed of dog. Grooming is of course important with all dogs but Yorkies more than almost any other need a lot of care and maintenance.

Especially because of their long hair, duties such as brushing, shampooing and conditioning are going to be a regular task. Performing these grooming tasks, although beneficial to the owner pet relationship, can be outsourced to a professional groomer.

Bathing is very important and should be done at least a couple times every week. You should brush their hair both before and after the bath in order to keep their coat as shiny and tangle free as possible.

Yorkshire Terrier haircuts are recommended, as this will make regular upkeep much easier. Fewer knots and less matting will make daily brushing and regular bathing less time consuming. Considering additional tasks such as clipping nails and tooth care take a lot of time and effort also, a proper cut seems almost to be a requirement of Yorkshire Terrier ownership.

Yorkshire Terriers really do make wonderful pets. Not only are they great pets but they are great friends, and every Yorkshire Terrier owner is nothing less than superbly proud of their dog. As long as you perform proper and regular grooming, including Yorkshire Terrier cuts, you should not have any problems and you will have a beautiful and healthy dog.

The bottom line is that although Yorkies definitely make great pets, remember that you will need to be prepared to spend a lot of time on Yorkshire Terrier grooming. Because they have long coats they need to have baths regularly, so their coats should be kept in Yorkshire Terrier cuts, particularly for convenience and hygiene. You also want to brush your Yorkie’s hair daily to keep it free of tangles, and wash mucus from their eyes, even daily if you have to.

Also remember that you should really take care when choosing grooming products for your dog, as you want to choose ones of high quality but which at the same time are not overly expensive.
