Siberian Husky Problems You Can Expect

by Andrew Preston

A responsible dog owner is one that takes the time to learn about the behavioral and health problems that can arise with their breed of dog. The list of Siberian Husky problems is made up of breeding issues and behavioral issues and the more you know about the warning signs of these problems the better prepared you will be to not only cope with them but also to train your dog to adapt to what you need it to do. It takes a patient hand to train a dog so keep your cool and be patient.

The Siberian Husky loves to run and while this is a great feature for a hunting dog or a racing dog it can be a problem with a family dog. You need to take the time to teach your Siberian Husky that there is a time for running and a time to relax but the only thing that makes that work is if you do give your dog time to run each and every day.

The Siberian Husky can get quite protective of its human family and this brings up another Siberian Husky problem. You need to give your dog social training so that it knows how to properly interact with other humans and other animals. A Siberian Husky that is always on the alert and guarding their family can be a danger to other people and animals so avoid this with some social training.

They were bred to be working dogs so they always need a task to do and it is your job as the responsible owner to teach them that guarding the family at all times does not need to be one of their tasks. A Siberian Husky on guard can be a very dangerous animal.

If you look at a Husky you can understand why it gets confused as a wild wolf sometimes. The reason is that a Husky is a direct relative to a wolf and as a wolf it loves to howl rather than bark. A howling Husky can trigger all the other dogs in the neighborhood to start howling as well and this is a really bad thing. There will always be howling from your Husky but obedience training can help get it under some kind of control.

The Siberian Husky problems you may encounter are not always behavioral. Sometimes they can display the symptoms of serious medical conditions and only a regular trip to the vet can help keep that under control. The Husky is known to get bone disorders that make it painful for them to move.

They can also get digestive problems that can be an issue for everyone and they are also known to get eye infections every once in a while as well. Regular vet visits will keep your dog healthy and everyone happy.

A Siberian Husky is a hard working and active dog that is a direct relative to the wild wolf so you can imagine that their instincts can sometimes be a problem. But they are also very loyal dogs and if you take the time to develop a good relationship with your Husky then you can work out any Siberian Husky problems that may come up.
