Shih Tzu Care- These Things Will Make Your Dog Look Good
There can be a lot of ways to make Shih Tzu care easy; one is by knowing the proper methods or techniques on how to do it. Knowing how to properly bath your dog or clean his ears and eyes will definitely make your Shih Tzu care period easy. But no matter how good you are in grooming, bathing and cleaning your dog if you do not have the equipment and tools, it will never be easy all along.
Dogs no matter what breed need regular grooming. There are various tools to aide every dog owners in their grooming endeavor. Below is the list:
1. Combs
Combs are important when working with your dog’s coat. There are two types of combs recommended for dog use; a wide-toothed comb and a fine one. Wide-toothed comb is ideal for tangles and mats while the fine one is for finishing or final work.
For dogs with soft and long coat, it is best to use pin brush. However, bristle brush should be used to dogs with short coat. When choosing your dog’s coat, one general rule is to check the tips of the teeth. Good dog combs have blunt tips preventing injury in your dog’s skin.
2. Scissors
Scissors are used for clipping or trimming your dog’s hair. There are two types of scissors for dogs; ordinary scissors and thinning shears. Don’t be deceived with costly and popular brands of scissors; what is important is that they function well based on their purpose.
Owners of dogs that need trimming should have at least three scissors: a thinning model, an ordinary pair with long blades and a pair with short blunt-pointed blades to work ears, pads, etc.
3. Nail Clippers
Nail clipper for your dog’s nails are classified into two types; the first one is the guillotine style and the second is the one with sickle blades. For large dogs with thick, rigid nails, a nail clipper with sickle blades should be used.
Manicure tweezers and pliers can also be used when there is no canine nail clipper available. The latter can be used to really strong nails. Just remember to use these two items with care.
4. Grooming Table
The use of grooming table when grooming a dog makes every dog owners life easy. Professional grooming table usually have devices to fix an animal, suspended sacks for trimmed hair, stands, shelves and boxes for grooming tools.
Grooming table for home use is simpler. It is only a table with a non-slip surface usually placed with soft towel or rubber mat on the surface of the table.
