Pomeranian Mixed Breeds For You

by Rosie Allan

The term mixed breed does not mean what it used to. Mixed breeds in the past were just a nice way to say mutt. But today, mostly because of celebrity demand, super small dogs with ideal qualities are more popular than ever. The idea is to pair two purebred dogs and breed a dog that possesses the best qualities of both. Pomeranians are ideal for this purpose because they are small and already very popular. These designer mixed breed dogs seem only to be done with the very small breeds such as toys or miniatures.

The Pomapoo is a good example of one of these mixed breeds. The exceptional looks of the Pomeranian and the good disposition of the Poodle, either toy or miniature, makes a very desirably pet. Though it is pretty easy to guess what you will get when breeding two purebred dogs of the same breed, it is not so easy with two different breeds.

There are several types of dogs that work well as Pomeranian mixed breeds. The first thing that you have to remember is that you need to take a good look at the other dog and make sure that it is compatible. The most important thing is that you want to look at is the size of the dog.

A dog that is too big for your Pomeranian might actually hurt it, so you have to be sure that you are choosing dogs that are the right size. The dog that is most often used as Pomeranian mixed breeds is a Pug. This is because the Pug is the right shape and size for the Pomeranian.

Another popular mixed breed is the Brusselranian, a mix between a Brussels Griffon and a Pomeranian. The Pomchi is also in demand and is the results of breeding a Pomeranian with a Chihuahua. And the Shih Pom comes from breeding a Shih Tzu with a Pomeranian.

When you have Pomeranian mixed breeds, there are several things that you want to remember. First of all, a Pomeranian mix is more likely to look more like the Pomeranian than the other dog because of the way that the dominate genes are passed from the Pomeranian.

Another thing that often stays the same is the color of the fur, because the Pomeranian colors often override the other dogs’ color. Although with some breeds, such as the Pug, the face and nose structure will be less like the Pomeranian and more like a Pug’s.

Because these dogs are not purebreds they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club and are not allowed to compete in club sanctioned dog shows. But these new mixed breeds, commonly known as hybrids, can be recognized by the American Canine Hybrid club if bred correctly.
